What is your name and what do you do?
My name is Mackenzie Shivers, and I'm a
singer/songwriter who lives in the Hudson Valley. I released my fourth album
primrose was in season earlier this year. I always have a hard time categorizing when it comes to genre, but I'd call it indie folk-pop. I love making things.
How would you describe your style and how does vintage fit into your style?
In my life and in my fashion, I embrace that two conflicting phenomena can and often do co-exist. Masculine/feminine, hard/soft, high brow/low brow. Prints, colors, textures, patterns, eras, I like a mix of it all. I tend to like oversized. It's got to be comfortable. I would say that 90% of my closet is vintage, and the other 10% is made up of second hand (that's not specifically vintage) and slow-made fashion.
When I lived in NYC, I wore a lot of black, more structured silhouettes, like armor. When I moved to the Hudson Valley, my style turned a bit softer as I walked amongst more flowers and trees than skyscrapers.
Music is where I really like to have fun with fashion. What I wear on an album cover, in press photos, a music video, a performance, all help build a world and tell a story. A 70s lace maxi dress over an ivory corset and trousers at my album release show was a recent favorite.
What are your go-to items in your closet that you can’t live without?
I'm an outerwear fanatic. Vintage chore coats, army liners, blazers, you name it. I have a slow-made quilt jacket my parents got me for Christmas a few years back that is really special. It even has a matching quilt bonnet. When I wear both together, I feel I've reached peak cottage-core.
Top two style icons and why?
Emma Watson. She's been a champion of sustainable fashion from such a young age. Her Calvin Klein trouser-meets-gown Met Gala look that was made from plastic bottles really sums it up for me.
Also my grandmother, Mary Clarke Mackenzie. I adore seeing photos of her from the 60s, wearing the exact type of pieces I try to source today. I'm really lucky that I have a few of her clothes that my mom saved. Whenever I wear them, I feel that much more connected to her.

What is your name and what do you do?
My name is Isabella Gabrielle Diaz-Kelly. I model, promote and sell for local artisans & designers.Currently, I am Assistant Manager at Made X Hudson in Catskill NY, a small batch garment factory and retail storefront. I studied fashion design and merchandising.
How would you describe your style and how does vintage fit into your style?
Everything under the sun is my style. I love to change it up and try new things. Although I am a sucker for classic vintage and fashion before my time, pre-2K, and I focus on sustainable collecting. So, in a nutshell, vintage is my style :)
What are your go-to items in your closet that you can’t live without?
Super soft grey almost floor length cardigan from Top Shop, it's like wearing a blanket, cashmere feel. I have had this since sophomore year of college and still wear regularly.
Classic 90’s Black Wilson’s Leather Jacket with a belt, borrowed from my moms closet.
Top two style icons and why?
Rihanna & Audrey Hepburn
Rihanna because….Rihanna.
(Fenty, & her music empire)
Audrey Hepburn (I actually quote her on the daily) . Her style, her aura, her words. All of it.

How would you describe your style and how does vintage fit into your style?
My style is minimal and often of a neutral palette. I have been trying to incorporate more color into my wardrobe in a very intentional way. I will invest in pieces for my wardrobe and almost never shop fast fashion because I will wear my clothes for years and years, mend them if they need, and just really love them and make them a part of my staple look. I would say my style is 1960s Audrey Hepburn meets 1990s mom in the Hamptons.
I have a deep love for vintage (and antique) clothing and would say my closet is 50/50 vintage and modern. To wear a piece that has been worn by somebody’s great grandmother and has a whole story in its seams is so beautiful to me.
.
What are your go-to items in your closet that you can’t live without?
In the summertime I live in a white dress. At work people often ask me how I can wear white while pouring red wine and my answer is that clothing is meant to be lived in and worn. Laundry is my love language so I can usually get out a stain. I have a vintage white dress from a small shop in Santa Monica, California that I wear all summer long. My favorite pieces are usually ones I’ve found when traveling.
My Ilana Kohn chore coat has been with me for many seasons. I love to support female owned shops. My vintage gingham pants have become a staple for me too. One of my favorite brands of shoes is Martiniano, the softest leather you’ll ever slide your foot into.
.
Top two style icons and why?
Audrey Hepburn is forever and always my answer to this question. She is not just my style icon but someone I admire for her humanitarian work and her joie de vivre regardless of what life threw at her. She was Givenchy’s muse for a reason! She understood the importance of a good tailor and dressed to leave something to the imagination.
My mother in law, Maria de Carmen Arias Plaza, is my other style icon. She is a fiercely beautiful Ecuadorian woman who never ever leaves home in sweats. Even if I pop over for breakfast she is in heels. You never know who you’re going to meet when you’re out running errands and she reminds me to put effort into my appearance. Dressing your best also makes you feel your best.

What is your name and what do you do?
Amelia C Williams - Photographer and mixed media street style pop artist <3
How would your describe your style and how does vintage fit into your style?
I'd define my style as subdued eclectic. I like to dabble between a few different vibes and try to avoid trends at all cost. Denim is probably the number 1 vintage item in my closet, I have a few cool late 60s / early 70s pieces that I break out for special occasions, but having worked in fashion for so long, practicality is what I tend to lean towards versus too many statement pieces.
What are your go-to items in your closet that you could not live without?
Levi's, white tank top (usually cropped by me) and vans or birks (this has not changed since high school). & I have a light obsession with overalls / jumpsuits
Top two style icons and why?
It is legitimately impossible for me to narrow down to two; I admire so many different aspects of style. Throwback wise: Bianca Jagger, everything coming from the Warhol era and crowd will ultimately remain unmatched. Current and ongoing Zoe Kravitz. Not only is she the queen of cool but her stylist Andrew Mukamal is an MTV icon from the Kelly Cutrone era. Andrew Leon Talley, if you don't know, now you know. The Prescod sisters, modern Black socialites that are smart, cool & chic and their style is aspirational AF. Of course Rihanna because it's Rihanna but also she continues to give me permission to show my nipples in public without shame. And Donald Glover. Guava Island cannot go unmentioned. The costume design was *chefs kiss*.
